Concertino for Trumpet

Excellent piece to show the capabilities of an intermediate level trumpet player. This is the version with piano accompaniment. It includes the rhythms of Pasillo, Joropo and Mapalé.

Caño Cristales
For Trombone and Vibraphone (2021)

Inspired by one of the most beautiful rivers in the world located in Colombia and characterized by its unique colors. As a way to recreate these colors, the trombone uses several types of mutes. The vibraphone also uses diverse colors including various types of strikers and the bow. Written for the great trombonist Jeremy Wilson and is included in his album Aurora.

Florentino y el Diablo
For Flute and Marimba (2020)

Inspired by an old legend from the Venezuelan tradition. Florentino was a great singer, the best in town and everyone used to challenge his singing skills. One day, a strange being, later identified as El Diablo, (the Devil) challenges Florentino to a challenge for the best song which requires Florentino to bring out the best of his skills to defeat him. The two main ideas of the piece come from the Venezuelan styles of passage and joropo.

A piece with a Latin jazz feel. The main theme is presented with three different harmonies and textures, recreating the personality and character of each of the composer's children.

El Mundo de Emanuel
For solo Tenor Saxophone (2018)

Inspired by the composer's youngest son, it recreates the personality of this child who has his own particular way of seeing the world and communicating with it. The piece uses a wide range of the instrument, as well as its expressive and rhythmic possibilities. Aleatoric and conventional writing are combined to generate different atmospheres and emotions.

En tres movimientos, es pieza es una exploración sobre diferentes aires y tradiciones del pacífico colombiano trasladadas al clarinete y el piano. El clarinete es un instrumento muy utilizado en las agrupaciones tradicionales de esta región de Colombia. Los patrones ritmo-armonices de la marimba, instrumento armónico por excelencia de esta música, son trasladados al piano.
