Las "No Hay" Estaciones (The No-Four Seasons) (2022)

For clarinet quartet and symphonic band, composed for Barcelona Clarinet Players. It recreates the idea that there are no seasons in tropical countries, but there is the possibility of enjoying different climates and temperatures when we travel to places. It is very virtuosic for the soloists and the band accompaniment is very colorful.

For solo clarinet and symphonic band, inspired by traditional Colombian rhythms, especially some from the Caribbean coast. It uses the entire range of the instrument, and includes some extended techniques. Composed for Manuel Martínez (Spain)

For four percussion soloists and symphonic band, inspired by traditional Colombian rhythms. Uses elements of aleatoric music and post-tonal harmony

The Stars and Stripes "A la Colombiana" (2022)

This is an arrangement of the famous march The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Phillip Sousa, written in the style of Colombian cumbia. It was commissioned by Thomas Verrier and premiered by the Venezuelan-American Wind Symphony. 

Latinoamérica Despierta (2020)

Inspired by the social movements that emerged in the mid-20th century in several Latin American countries and that represented a strong counterweight to the dominant and oppressive mandates coming from the government and the upper class against the popular classes. The work was commissioned by the Metropolitan Winds in Boston for the celebration of their 50th anniversary. 

El Solitario: Tone Poem for Band (2019)

Excellent choice to close a concert and to encourage young musicians to play the rhythm of Colombian cumbia.

Excellent piece to introduce young musicians to the rhythm of Colombian cumbia. It has a simple and repetitive structure that makes it very enjoyable and easy to put together. 

Pipatón (2010)

Written in the style of porro, traditional rhythm of the Colombian Caribbean coast. The piece is inspired in the Cacique Pipatón, also know as the "Cacique of Winged Heels". The piece is full of energy and lyricism at the same time and features trumpet, euphonium, and clarinet soloists, as well as the trombone section. 

Señora de las Cigarras (2010)

Written in the style of the Colombian bambuco, this piece explores lyrical ideas and exquisite harmonies. It is dedicated to the city of Bucaramanga (Colombia), also known as "Señora de las Cigarras".

Organized in three movements, this is an excellent concert piece for solo flute and band inspired by various rhythms of the Colombian musical tradition such as fandango, cumbia, currulao, mapalé, danza and guabina. The piece offers technical challenges for the soloist due to the high rhythmic intensity and the use of various languages, as well as some extended techniques.

Los Caminos de Lengerke (2010)

Poema Sinfónico inspirado en la vida de Geo von Lengerke, un ingeniero y comerciante alemán que llega a Colombia a mediados del S. XIX huyendo de un asesinato. La obra hace un recorrido por la vida de Lengerke desde cuando abandona su tierra, hasta su muerte en Zapatoca, Colombia, recreando momentos gloriosos, dramáticos y trágicos. 

Paisaje Esperanza (2009)

A piece with melodies and harmonies full of optimism and hope, that inspires the listener to think of a better word through the music made by children. It is written in the style of Pasaje and it is very accessible for bands of intermediate level.

Excellent piece to show the capabilities of a trumpet player without pushing the band too much. It includes the rhythms of Joropo, Pasillo, and Mapalé. 

Also available in trumpet and piano version. 

Nueve Lunas (2008)

Inspired by the International Folklore Festival of Cosquín (Argentina), this is an excellent piece to include in a program about world music. It has a very energetic introduction and ending, contrasted with more lyrical sections written in the Colombian bambuco style.
