Yadiko, the Amazonian ritual of the Uitoto people of Colombia, which celebrates joy, community, and a profound connection to nature, serves as the inspiration for this musical work. Written for flute, piccolo, and electronics, the piece offers a personal interpretation that intertwines the ritual’s spiritual essence with Indigenous Colombian sonorities. The electronic component, crafted entirely from flute sounds, highlights the instrument’s rich timbral potential while faithfully reflecting the work’s central musical intentions.
The piece won the Flute New Music Consortium Composition Competition in 2026.
